Making Infection Prevention and Control a Priority
Welcome
Infection Prevention and Control practices in dental offices help prevent/reduce the risk of infection, which creates a safe environment for patients and the dental team. In Ontario, dental offices are required to meet the RCDSO Standard of Practice & Public Health IPAC guidelines. These requirements include having an active and up-to-date customized IPAC manual, WHMIS and IPAC training for all staff, MIFU binders, required logs throughout the office, and other essential requirements. BK Dental Solutions provides IPAC training, resources, and support to dental offices to achieve and stay up to date with these IPAC standards/guidelines.
Be Informed
Public Health of Ontario does not randomly inspect dental offices.
There are three situations where a Public Health inspection can occur:
1. Member of public complaint - i.e. patient or a disgruntled employee.
2. Patient acquires a reportable infectious disease - PHO is responsible for checking all healthcare providers, including dental offices.
3. A dentist who owns multiple offices - if one office receives a complaint, all the dental offices may be inspected.
